The Results are In!!!

I haven't been keeping up on this, shame on me! A lot has happen since my last post Nation (i love Colbert)!
The contest for the Presidency of the United States has been decided!  In a pretty much sweeping victory for Democrats, Barack Obama remained the President.  He soundly defeated his Republican challenger Mitt Romney on Nov 6th. The Democrats also managed to pick up two more seats in the US Senate.  While not really altering the balance of power in Washington, it will make things a bit easier for the President who has faced Republican opposition since Day 1 in the White House!

I know in my last I was thinking that the Republican Nominee was going to be Newt Gingrich, or perhaps Ron Paul (that would have been nice!)  I was wrong!  This just goes to show that Politics is an interesting and dynamic game if you have the guts to play it!

USA closes its embassy in Syria!

The U.S. closed its Syrian embassy Monday and Britain recalled its ambassador to Damascus in a dramatic escalation of Western pressure on President Bashar Assad to give up power, just days after diplomatic efforts at the United Nations to end the crisis collapsed.
The U.S. evacuated all its diplomats from the country as Syrian forces intensified a shelling assault on the restive city of Homs. The offensive began Saturday, the same day Syria's allies in Russia and China vetoed a Western- and Arab-backed resolution aimed at trying to end the brutal crackdown on dissent.

GOP Nomination Presidental Race

It was really been awhile since I last posted and a lot has happened in the world of politics and the world as a whole for that matter!

We have been up to our necks in the GOP presidental nominee race.  The race seems to have come down to only two; suave business man and former MA governor Mitt Romney and rhetorical lion and former US Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.  The battle is of course coming down to who has the least baggage and who can defeat President Obama in Nov.  Mitt plays his role as the lower tax, deregulation Wall Street Conservative while Newt calls himself the only true 'Reagan' conservative on the ballot.

Granted there are still two other men still running for the nomination too; PA Sen. Rick Santorum and TX Rep. Ron Paul.  Both men trail the two front runners, however Ron Paul in particular still garners very high levels of support especially among younger voters age 18-29 for his more Libertarian policies and declaration to drastically cut back over-seas military spending!

Things will only get more exciting and more intense as Nov draws closer!
